Lowcostholidays Spain S.L. (in administration) ("lowcostholidays")

Finbarr O'Connell, Henry Shinners and Colin Hardman of Smith & Williamson LLP and Lane Bednash of CMB Partners UK Ltd were appointed as joint administrators of lowcostholidays on 21 July 2016 by order of the High Court in London. The link to a copy of the court order is here.

On 15 July 2016, the same individuals were appointed as joint administrators of:

  • Lowcosttravelgroup Limited
  • Lowcostaviation.com Limited
  • Lowcostbeds.com Limited
  • Lowcostholidays Limited

We, the administrators, are very sorry for any difficulties that the failure of lowcostholidays may cause you. The following generic information is intended to help you make an informed decision on how to proceed with your travel plans and/or how to process any claims. You should have received an email confirming details which are specific to your booking and if you have not done so please check your spam/junk email folders.

We are keeping this website updated and we suggest you visit this site regularly to be sure you are getting the most up to date advice on the situation. http://www.lowcostholidays.com

IMPORTANT NOTICE: 1 AUGUST 2016

An email has been sent to all lowcostholiday customers that have an existing booking confirming the following:

PLEASE NOTE that following the cessation of trading and the lowcosttravel Group entering administration, the 'manage my booking' facility via http://mmb.lowcostholidays.com will be disabled with effect from 5PM FRIDAY 19 AUGUST 2016

If you have not already accessed the online system to obtain information relating to your booking, please do so before the deadline above and make sure you download copies of all documents relating to your booking. This information will not be available after 19 August 2016.

Flights
In most cases, flights have been booked and paid in full with the airline and tickets remain valid.
Your reference number is on the documentation that has previously been provided to you by lowcostholidays. If you wish to obtain a copy of this documentation, please go to http://mmb.lowcostholidays.com where you can request a copy of these documents to be emailed to you. We strongly recommend that you contact the airline directly, in good time before you travel, to validate your booking and obtain the necessary check-in information. You should provide the airline with your email address so you can manage your booking going forward.

If the airline confirm that your flight has not been paid for by lowcostholidays, they will be able to confirm whether you are able to secure a new booking; if so you should pay the airline directly. Please note the cost may be different from the amount paid to lowcostholidays for your original booking. Alternatively, you may wish to use another travel agency or intermediary to secure new flights.

Accommodation
In most cases, accommodation in resort has regrettably not been paid and your booking is not secured.
If you are able to contact the hotel directly, they will be able to confirm whether you are able to secure a new booking; you should pay the hotel directly. Please note the cost may be different from the amount paid to lowcostholidays for your original booking. Alternatively, you may wish to use another travel agency or intermediary to secure a new holiday.

Transfers
If you booked in-resort transfers (such as transport to or from the airport to your accommodation) via the lowcostholidays.com website, in most cases these have regrettably not been paid and your booking is not secured for you.

If you would like to book new transfers, you can do so independently or with the original supplier, Resort Hoppa (http://www.resorthoppa.com) who may have already contacted you directly. Resort Hoppa have made available a 30% discount voucher code to customers who have been failed by lowcostholidays and you can use the voucher on their website: Voucher code number: LC30.

Insurance

If you set up a travel insurance policy via the lowcostholidays.com website at the time of booking, then the policy purchased remains valid for the holiday. However, it is important to note that this policy provided by Covermore does not cover supplier failure due to insolvency. Therefore, you are unable to make a claim under this policy for your losses arising from the failure of lowcostholidays.

You can download a full copy of your Covermore travel insurance policy from (http://mmb.lowcostholidays.com). If you have purchased other travel insurance you will need to check with the provider if your policy provides cover against travel agency insolvency.

Car Parking
If you booked car parking via the lowcostholidays.com website, in most cases it has regrettably not been paid for and is not secured for you.

If you require a new reservation, you will need to make a new booking, either independently or through the original supplier, APH (http://www.aph.com)

Making a claim
It is important that you keep all receipts of expenses incurred to help you in making any claims for a refund or compensation in due course.

There are various ways in which you can pursue a claim to try and recover the costs of the holiday components booked via the lowcostholidays.com website which are no longer valid. However, the administrators can neither recommend, nor confirm which is the best approach for you, nor can we guarantee that your claim(s) will be successful. The potential claim options are listed below:

  1. Your credit or debit card issuer. UK customers should visit http://www.theukcardsassociation.org.uk/news/LCTGadvice.asp for guidance in this respect.
  2. Govern de les Illes Balears (http://www.caib.es / http://www.caib.es/govern/sac/fitxa.do?codi=2657363&coduo=165) who is the regulator of the Spanish Travel Agency.
  3. Other payment/buyer protection schemes (for example, if you paid for your booking via PayPal, you may be able to claim under PayPal Buyer Protection).
  4. Personal travel insurance policy. (Note: the Covermore travel insurance sold via lowcostholidays.com does not cover for insolvency). Please check with your travel insurance provider.
  5. For customers in the Republic of Ireland only, the Irish Commission for Aviation Regulation holds a bond for the repatriation of and refund to customers who have paid for forward bookings with lowcostholidays (including 'flight only' as well as package holidays originating in the Republic of Ireland). Such customers are recommended to visit the Commissions website at http://www.aviationreg.ie for details of how to make a claim

It is highly likely that you will be able to make a claim for non-delivered services direct to your credit card provider / bank. You do not therefore need to lodge a separate claim with the administrator.

We regret that, the administrators are unable to answer queries about individual bookings due to the fact the company has ceased to trade and the very large volume of reservations concerned. It is because of the large number of bookings that information is being made available via this website which is being regularly updated with the latest developments.
